COVID-19 Response Update
Dear PCR Community-
As we work to keep ourselves and each other safe, we want to share announcements about our work moving forward as well as resources and opportunities to take action.
The PCR office is closed and scheduled public events are cancelled until further notice. Our staff will be working remotely and accessible via phone and email as well as participating in community-based mutual aid work. Environmental justice communities such as those on Chicago’s far south side will be especially hard hit due to health disparities caused by pollution. Folks from our communities also face higher rates of incarceration due in part to over policing and now face dangerous conditions while locked-up.
We encourage everyone to use an abundance of caution to keep yourselves and your community safe. As an act of mutual aid, please consider the most vulnerable among us as you navigate daily life in the coming weeks. PCR joins the chorus of voices across the country calling for paid sick leave for all workers, expanded unemployment benefits, universal rent freeze, and immediate moratorium on foreclosures, evictions and utility shutoffs.
For local resources including mutual aid requests, rental assistance, unemployment assistance and more, please visit our frequently updated resource page.
